Car Goes Over Railing, Plunges Into Lake

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A motorist is being treated after his vehicle veered into Lake Allatoona Thursday afternoon.

Bartow County Emergency Medical Services responded to the single vehicle accident on Tanyard Creek Road in unincorporated Acworth.

Bartow EMS spokesperson Brad Cothran said it appears the vehicle left the roadway, struck a guardrail, continued over the railing and came to a stop in the lake.

Crews arrived on the scene to find an elderly male patient outside the vehicle near the water. The man was evaluated by emergency responders, who discovered the man had water in his lungs.

He was transported to an area hospital for additional treatment. Return to Patch for updates.
