Cartersville Child, 2, Drowns in Family Pool
Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said no charges are expected to be filed in this "tragic accident."
A two-year-old Cartersville girl drowned over the weekend in her family’s pool, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
On Sunday, Sophia Canty, 2, reportedly walked out of the rear door of her home on Earle Drive in unincorporated Cartersvile and into her family’s pool.
The mother of the child “noticed that she was not inside the home” and after a short search, discovered her child unresponsive in the pool, the agency said.

Bartow County Fire and EMS transported the girl to Cartersville Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. An autopsy determined Sophia died of drowning with no other injures, the sheriff added.
At this time, no charges are expected to be filed in this “tragic accident,” Millsap added.
