Cartersville City School Calendar 2018-19

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The summer has (nearly) come and gone, and your little ones will soon return to classes in the Cartersville City School System. The first day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 8 for students, with pre-planning set for Aug. 1-3 and Aug. 6-7 for teachers.

Here are some other notable dates for the 2018-19 calendar:

• Oct. 8-9: Fall Break
• Nov. 19-23: Thanksgiving Holiday
• Dec. 21: End of First Semester
• Dec. 24 - Jan. 4, 2019: Winter Holiday
• Jan. 7, 2019: Teacher In-Service, Student Holiday
• Jan. 8, 2019: School Resumes
• Jan. 21, 2019: MLK Jr. Holiday
• Feb. 11-12: Snow Days (as needed)
• March 8: Snow Day (as needed, otherwise Teacher In-Service)
• April 1-5: Spring Break
• May 24: Last Day of School/Graduation
• May 28-30: Post-Planning

Open House Dates

• Cartersville High School (freshmen and new students): 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6
• Cartersville Middle School: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3
• Cartersville Elementary School: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3
• Cartersville Primary School: 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6
• Kids & Company Pre-K: 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5

New Start, End Times

In order to continue to serve students' transportation needs and to meet the significant increase in bus riders, Cartersville City Schools will stagger the opening and closing times of school beginning in the 2018-19 school year. Cartersville City School System will observe the opening and closing times at the start of the 2018-19 school year:

Pre-K

• Start: 7:30 a.m.
• End: 2 p.m.
• Open to receive students: 7 a.m.

Cartersville Primary School

• Start: 7:30 a.m.
• End: 2:20 p.m.
• Open to receive students: 7 a.m.

Cartersville Elementary School

• Start: 7:30 a.m.
• End: 2:30 p.m.
• Open to receive students: 7 a.m.

Cartersville Middle School

• Start: 8:30 a.m.
• End: 3:30 p.m.
• Open to receive students: 7:55 a.m.

Cartersville High School

• Start: 8:30 a.m.
• End: 3:45 p.m.
• Open to receive students: 7:55 a.m.

Transportation Changes

Cartersville City Schools has also modified transportation requirements for the upcoming school system. It will only transport students who reside more than one-half mile and one mile away from his or her respective school and students with an individual education program that mandates transportation.

Students who reside within, or whose assigned bus stop is within, the one-half mile and the one-mile radius of their respective school and have previously received bus services will no longer be transported. Only those students who have a route to school affected by one of three hazards, which are a river, a bridge with no sidewalks, or a major highway, will be considered for transportation.

Meal prices

Breakfast: $1.25 for Cartersville Primary, Elementary and Middle school students; $1.50 for Cartersville High School students.

Lunch: $2.25 for Cartersville Primary and Elementary students: $2.50 for Cartersville Middle and High School students.
