One of those events is the Cartersville Farmer’s Market Zucchini Festival, which will take place Saturday, June 27 at the Founder’s Oak Parking Lot.

Children’s activities will kick off around 10 a.m., and will include coloring and a zucchini painting station. There will also be a zucchini contest for the vendors. The categories will be: best zucchini bread, biggest zucchini and most unusual zucchini.

“We need the community to come out to the Farmer’s Market and help us judge these delicious, locally produced zucchinis,” said Special Events Coordinator Hollie Duncan. “Zucchinis are finally in season, and what better way to enjoy them than at the Zucchini Festival.”

Vendors must turn in entries by 9:30 a.m., and voting will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“After tasting all of these delicious zucchinis, you are sure to want to take some home with you,” Duncan added.

The 2015 season of the Cartersville Farmer’s Market will be open every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and each Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon through Sept. 30. The Founder’s Oak Parking Lot sits across the street from Cartersville City Hall.
