Cartersville Kids Can Hunt Deer at Allatoona Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in December will host an archery-only youth deer hunt in December.

The event, scheduled for Dec. 13-14, will be held at the Allatoona Lake in Cartersville.

Hunting zones will be identified throughout Cooper’s Furnace (1052 Old River Road SE) and Cooper Branch (1101 and 1121 Highway 20 Spur) day use areas and the zone will be available by reservation only.

This hunt is designated for youth age 15 and younger, the corps said. A parent and guardian must accompany participating teens and children and also possess a valid Georgia Big Game license. Parents and guardians will not be allowed to hunt.

Anyone who wishes to make a reservation must do so in person from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 20 to Nov. 10, or until all spaces are filled.
