Cartersville Mayor Announces Re-Election Bid

Matt Santini has served as the city's mayor since 2008.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Matt Santini has announced plans to seek another term as mayor of the city of Cartersville.

Santini made his announcement Wednesday on his Facebook page to seek another two-year term to the post he's held since 2008. He notes he made the announcement with the "continued love and support" of his wife and daughter.

"Cartersville continues to develop and thrive, and there are still many great opportunities on the horizon," he said in a statement. "It has been (a) pleasure to work with the city council to make decisions that are in the best interest of our community and to be a part of open and honest government."

Santini went on to praise Cartersville city staff members who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty to provide essential services to citizens. This community, he added, is one that looks after each other, and thrives in maintaining its hometown feel while it continues to grow.

"Our city and county continue to garner attention across the state for our successful efforts in attracting quality jobs and industry to our community," he added. "While all these successes can be attributed to numerous people, it is important to keep leadership that is committed to an environment that is conducive to bringing quality growth while preserving our quality of life."

He also served as board member and president of the Cartersville Downtown Development Authority.

Santini graduated from Georgia Southern University with a bachelor's degree in marketing/sales and sales management and advertising. Born in New York, Santini grew up in Marietta and has lived in Cartersville since October 1991. He is married to wife, Anthia, and they have one daughter, Matalyn.

"My pledge to you is the same as it was when I first ran in the fall of 2007," Santini added. "I will be honest and accessible, and I will work tirelessly for the good of our city. I have a passion for helping people and serving this community, and I want to continue doing that work."

Qualifying for local elections will be held in August, with the municipal election scheduled for Nov. 7.
