Cartersville Native Named Marine Military Cadet of the Month

HARLINGEN, TX — Freshman Conner Clawson of Cartersville was named the Marine Military Academy September 2016 Cadet of the Month for Alpha Company.

The cadet who receives this award is nominated by his drill instructor for his exemplary attitude, conduct and leadership.

In addition to the recognition he received Sept. 30 in front of the MMA Corps of Cadets, Clawson will be treated to a special dinner hosted by the MMA superintendent and his wife.

Clawson, a first-year cadet, currently plans to attend the University of Georgia and major in business. He plans to work in the family business as a job recruiter. He is the son of Rachel and Henry Clawson.

The Marine Military Academy is a college-preparatory boarding school for young men in grades 8-12 with an optional post-graduate year.

Since 1965, the Academy is the only private school in the world based on the traditions and values of the U.S. Marine Corps. Located in Harlingen, Texas, the Academy has been home to thousands of sons from across the world and is home to the historic Iwo Jima Monument.
