Cartersville Police Investigate Armed Robbery at Gas Station

The incident took place Tuesday evening at the Short Trip convenience store, which is less than a half-mile south of the police department.

The Cartersville Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store on Cassville Road.

An officer was dispatched around 9:46 p.m. Tuesday, April 28 to Short Trip gas station at 165 Cassville Road, which sits less than a half-mile from the police headquarters.

According to an incident report released by the agency, two black men wearing masks allegedly ran into the store.

One of the employees said he was standing at the register when the first suspect allegedly “jumped onto the checkout counter” and while pointing a black handgun at him, told him he would shoot him if he did not give him the money.

The employee, who said he was “in fear for his life,” raised his hands and told the man to take ”whatever money he wanted,” the report states.

He also said that while the first suspect was on top of the counter, the second suspect went to the area behind the counter and allegedly took two brown money boxes labeled “500 Dollars in Quarters.”

The two suspects fled toward Aubrey Street, which sits south of the store. The first suspect was described as 6’ tall with a thin build. He was possibly wearing black pants, a black and grey jacket and white shoes.

The second man stood around 5’10’’ and he also had a thin build. However, one witness reported he was wearing a white shirt with dark pants and white shoes.
