Cartersville Resident Named Assistant Director Of Georgia State Parks
During his 27 year career, James Hamilton has served as manager of Red Top Mountain State Park and other positions.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Cartersville resident James Hamilton was recently named assistant director of Georgia’s State Parks & Historic Sites, a division of the Department of Natural Resources. As a member of the executive management team, Hamilton will guide the division toward performance goals.
He will also oversee budgets, policies, marketing, business services, land acquisition and operational functions. During his 27-year career with the DNR, Hamilton has served as a project director with North Georgia Mountains Authority, regional manager over five lodge parks, manager of Red Top Mountain State Park and numerous other positions. He began his career as a seasonal interpreter and maintenance worker at Fort Mountain State Park.
Hamilton grew up in Cobb County and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Linda, have lived in Cartersville since 1994. They have two sons, James and Stephen.
