Cartersville School Board Sets 2018 Millage Rate

Board members approved the rollback rate of 15.668 provided there are no significant changes in the preliminary 2018 tax digest.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Cartersville City School Board on Monday voted to approve its millage rate for 2018. Board members approved the Finance Committee's recommendation to set its millage rate at 15.668, which is the rollback rate calculated for the system.

The change is contingent upon the school system not seeing a significant change to the preliminary 2018 tax digest of $953.8 million. When the total digest of taxable property is prepared, Georgia law requires that a rollback millage rate must be computed that will produce the same total revenue on the current year's digest that last year's millage rate would have produced had no reassessments occurred.

School board members also approved the band instrument bid for Cartersville Middle and Cartersville High schools from Maryland-based Washington Music Center ($1,140 for Cartersville Middle and $6,590.20 for High School) and Music & Arts of Frederick, Maryland ($9,054 for Cartersville Middle), low bid as specified per line item.
