An avid history buff and devoted writer, May is fascinated by the sites and history of World War II. Through the National World War II Museum’s travel program, May followed the United States armed forces’ path from England, Normandy and, finally, into Germany.
Separate from that trip, May also visited Malta, Sicily and Italy, following in the footsteps of the Allies. May, an active member of the Auburn Alumni Association, graduated with a bachelor of science in political science and with minors in both history and literature.
She worked in the medical records unit at the East Alabama Medical Center, has served as a high school substitute teacher in the Bartow County School System and has written two non-fiction books and more than 10 books of fiction.
Since her son Nick received a heart transplant at 23 months old, May has been a dedicated advocate of organ donation and transplantation, speaking to civic, church, and school groups and on radio and television.
A frequent traveler, May has visited forty-nine of the fifty states and took her four teenagers backpacking through Europe in 2001, living in Wales and Germany. In her spare time, May enjoys spending time with her family, reading, watching James Bond movies, working with her church and snow skiing.
She and her husband, Andy, live in Cartersville and they have four adult children, Drew, Mary Beth, Zach and Nick, and twin grandchildren.
More information about May’s book can be found online.
