Cartersville's Newest Fire Station Officially Now Open

City leaders say they will shut down the "old Blue" fire station at 1220 West Ave. after decades of service.

CARTERSVILLE, GA—At 7 a.m. Thursday, Cartersville's newest fire station opened for business, according to city officials. The Cartersville Fire has begun their emergency response from the new station located at 15 Charley Harper Dr.

City leaders say the new station will serve the community for many years to come.

"This new fire station would not have been possible without the leadership of our city and the citizens of our community," Cartersville Fire Chief Scott Carter said. “As a community we are blessed, as firefighters were are thankful and humbled.”

Now that the new station is up and running, city leaders say they will shut down the “old Blue” fire station at 1220 West Ave. after decades of service.

The old station was purchased by the city in 1995 as an old tire store that was converted into a fire station.

There will be a formal open house and dedication of the new fire station in the near future, according to city officials.
