Cass High School Teacher, Coach Passes Away

Funeral services for Greg Scott, who lived in Cartersville, will be held April 18 in the gym at Cass High School.

The following obituary was submitted by Owen Funeral Home:

Greg Scott, 51, of Cartersville, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015.

Mr. Scott was born August 25, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan and is the son of Earl and Judy (Humphries) Scott. He was a teacher and coach at Cass High School and was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church.

Surviving is his wife, Tensi (Howard) Scott of Cartersville; a daughter and son-in-law, Cieanna and Brad Sisk of Winchester, Tennessee; his son, Trey David Scott of Cartersville; his grandson, Lucas Sisk; his parents, Earl and Judy Scott of Georgetown, Kentucky; sister and brother-in-law, Lana and Mark Pennington of Georgetown, Kentucky; and beloved best friend, Bobby Hughes of Rydal.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, in the Cass High School gym with Rev. Joe McKaig officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17.

Pallbearers will be P.J. Hughes, Trey Walker, Edvonte Curtis, Tarris Batiste, Jordan Morning, Drew McKaig, Logan Wilkey and Ernest Wiggins.

A memorial service will be held at a later day and time in Winchester, Tennessee.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Oakland Heights Baptist Church, 16 Highland Way N.E., Cartersville, Georgia 30121, to go toward a college fund for his son, Trey Scott.

Owen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
