Chatt Tech Student Begins Drafting Career Upon Graduation

CTC Drafting graduate Genevieve Welday works in the design and draft process and packaging lines for the Dennis Group in Duluth.

CARTERSVILLE, GA - From Chattahoochee Tech: For Genevieve Weldey of Cobb County, graduating from Chattahoochee Technical College’s Drafting Technology program alongside earning a position in the field was not only a way to increase financial gain, but an opportunity to follow her personal aspirations.

“I have always had a passion for mechanical drawing,” Weldey, who completed the program on the North Metro Campus, said. “I enjoy the challenges. To me, drafting is fun — like solving a great puzzle.”

Beginning work in mid-July at the Dennis Group in Duluth, Weldey works in the design and draft process and packaging lines for the food industry. She said the work she did while in the program prepared her for the day-to- day tasks she is faced with on the job.

“I would like to finish my mechanical engineering degree and become an engineer,” Weldey said.

She encouraged others following in her footsteps to maintain focus and persistence when working toward one’s dreams.

“No matter what your goals are and what your limitations are, dedication is the true key to your success,” Weldey said. “Whatever happens do not give up. Just keep trying.”

She continued, “Having graduated with a 4.0 while having a full-time job and a part-time job, I can tell you this: no matter how busy you are, there is always time to do your school work. Whether you choose to dedicate yourself and use that time is what will enable you to achieve your goals. You are the only one who can control your future. Will you choose to achieve your dreams?”
