As CEO, White will be responsible for the overall success of the organization, including board development and management, program design and evaluation, evaluating new opportunities for service, strategic and financial planning.
She will also be responsible for oversight of buildings, grounds and fundraising. She will also work to ensure the organization always has the resources necessary to do the important work of taking care of children and families.
Advocates for Children is a nonprofit organization committed to the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. Advocates was formed in 1983 when a group of concerned community members in Bartow County recognized the need for a children’s shelter.
The organization started its mission in a small house on Elizabeth Street in Cartersville and now operates eight programs with four locations and nearly 50 employees, providing programs and services to 3,000 children and families annually.
“Karen has been a great leader and a valuable asset to the organization over the past six years,“ said Advocates For Children Board Chair Todd Browning. “I, along with the entire Board of Directors, look forward to the wonderful things we will accomplish under her future leadership.”
