Citizens Law Enforcement Academy Seeks Applications
The deadline to apply for the Bartow County Sheriff's Office's program is noon Thursday, March 31.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Bartow County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for its upcoming Citizens Law Enforcement Academy.

Applications may be obtained from the Administrative Division at the Sheriff’s Office and must be returned to the agency no later than noon Thursday, March 31.
The program, which will meet on Tuesday evenings and one Saturday, begins on Tuesday, April 12, and will meet on 10 different dates.

The program's last day will be Tuesday, June 14, and a graduation lunch is set for noon Tuesday, June 21.
Academy members will be exposed to every aspect of law enforcement duties, including firearms, personal safety, jail procedures, administrative duties, criminal investigations, patrol operations, 911 operations, court services, warrants and civil division, crime scene investigation, narcotics/K-9, C.P.R. certification and much more.
Participants will also have the opportunity to ride with deputies answering calls for service, respond with detectives conducting an investigation of a crime, work in the Bartow County Jail and court security.
Interested Bartow County citizens must complete and return the application for processing and background check completion by March 31.
The cost for a citizen academy Polo shirt at graduation is $25. The cost for a CPR certification card is $6. It is not mandatory that you purchase either one. Money will be collected during the fifth week of class.
"This program has been a success in the past, and the primary benefit of the program is building a closer relationship with the citizens we serve," Sheriff Clark Millsap said.
