- Filing a false tax return leads acCartersville businessman to federal prison: A Cartersville businessman has been sentenced to federal prison for filing a false tax return. As an owner of several gas stations and convenience stores in Cartersville, the failure to report over $2 million in "kickback" payments from coin-operated amusement machines, has resulted in two years in federal prison. - Arranging drug deal in Rome gets a Cartersville woman arrested: After reports said she conspired to sell methamphetamine, a 37-year-old Cartersville woman was jailed in Rome. According to those reports, she arranged a drug deal in Floyd County. The woman has been charged with use of a communication facility in commission of a felony involving a controlled substance and attempt or conspiracy to violate Georgia controlled substance act. - A murder indictment has been handed down for a Cartersville teenager: The defendant was arraigned on several felony charges, including murder and fentanyl distribution and sale of a schedule II controlled substance. The 19-year-old Cartersville woman pled "not guilty" to the felony offenses in Bartow Superior Court on Dec. 13. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
