Here are the top stories in Cartersville today:
- Full-service consulting firm Croy and the Cartersville-Bartow County Airport were recently named the Project of the Year award recipients. During the Georgia Airports Association (GAA) 2022 Annual Conference in Savannah, the award was presented for runway safety improvements to meet FAA Runway Safety Area (RSA) requirements, the project's second award to-date. - During the overnight hours of Sept. 26, a meteor was captured flying across the sky by a camera operated by planetary astronomer Dr. Ed Albin. Albin and fellow meteorite hunters, Pat Branch and Carl Dietrich, determined the location of the fall and were able to collect pieces. Found by Dietrich, the second largest specimen was acquired by Tellus Science Museum. (Los Alamos Daily Post)
- Weather officials are warning residents that sub-freezing temperatures - as low as 30 degrees - are expected for portions of north central, northwest and west central Georgia. Multiple counties will undergo a freeze warning that is set to last until 10 a.m. Wednesday. The freeze watch will be effective Wednesday night through Thursday morning. (Patch)
