A construction worker was injured Thursday afternoon when he was run over by a Bobcat loader in Cartersville.

Bartow County Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Brad Cothran said the accident occurred at a construction site next to Academy Sports + Outdoors, which is located at 453 East Main Street.
Crews arrived and found an 18-year-old man with “numerous trauma(tic) injuries,” Cothran stated.

The man, Cothran said, suffered injuries to his back, hips and legs. EMS crews requested a helicopter to transport the patient to a level-one trauma center due to the severity of his injuries.
He was subsequently airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment, Cothran added.
