Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:
- The Feb. 6 White City Council meeting got a bit heated. It was alleged that several thousands of dollars were missing out of city bank accounts and accusations were levied against members of the council and Mayor Pro Tem Gary Crisp. When residents were given time at the podium to speak, one said to Crisp, "I find no proof in the minutes that you have been approved by the council to sign checks, anywhere from January when you started to now. You have to prove that you didn't commit fraud." (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
- A section of Cassville Road, between Highway 293 and Dollar General (near Tarasco's Mexican restaurant and the Redbarn grocery) will be closed next week. Construction to repair a drainage pipe will start on Monday, Feb. 13 and end Friday, Feb. 17. (wbhfradio.org)
- The Booth Western Art Museum and the Tellus Science Museum have both been nominated as USA TODAY 10 Best museum contenders. Tellus is nominated for the best science museum category and Booth is nominated for the best art museum category. While Booth has won the top honor before, Tellus has only placed in the top five in the past. You can vote for your favorite museum once a day until Feb. 13. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
