Hello and happy Wednesday! I'm back in your inbox this morning to walk you through the most important things happening in town. Here goes!

Now, today's weather:

An afternoon t-storm or two. High: 86 Low: 70.

Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:

  1. Downtown railroad crossing closures that could affect your drive to work and school were announced Tuesday. West Avenue and Leake Street crossings will be closed all day today. Cherokee and Carter crossings will be closed on Thursday. (cityofcartersville.org)
  2. A local man is charged with rape and child molestation. According to BCSO reports, charges include terroristic threats and acts, false imprisonment, five counts of child molestation, two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes and rape strong arm. The offenses reportedly occurred Thursday, August 4 at 8:42 p.m. (WBHF via Facebook)
  3. Due to the increased economic development interest in the area between Interstate 75 exits 296 and 306, the community is invited to a public information open house. Bartow County and the City of Adairsville, in partnership with Mott MacDonald Consultants, would like to receive community feedback. The city of Adairsville has investors interested in obtaining access to the interstate from their properties to encourage economic development activity within the community.
