Daniel Turner Sr., 88, Retired Vice-President of Atlanta Dairies

Funeral services for the Cartersville resident and World War II veteran were held Saturday.

The following obituary was submitted by Owen Funeral Home:

Daniel Webster Turner, Sr., 88, of Davis Drive, Cartersville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Turner was born June 8, 1926, in Taylorsville, the son of the late Grady Andrew Turner and Fannie Popham Turner.

He was the retired vice-president and general sales manager of Atlanta Dairies. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was a member of Cartersville Masonic Lodge #63 F & AM. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. He served with the 8002nd Hydroponic Farming Depot in Chofu, Japan, (where he) supervised and directed planting, irrigating and harvesting vegetables.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Lyle Turner; his parents; son-in-law, Randy Carlisle; brothers, David Turner, Wallace Turner, Ralph Turner and Houston Turner.

Survivors include a son, Daniel W. (Danny) Turner, Jr. (Pam Turner); a daughter, Theresa Carlisle Lowe (Reuben Lowe); a son, Keith B. Turner (Joey Graham-Turner); grandchildren, Dr. Daniel W. (Chip) Turner III, Andrew Turner (Heather), Adam Turner (Haley), Cami Carlisle; great-grandchildren, Mason Black, Giles Turner, Harris Turner and Jack Chapman Turner, a sister; Mozelle Towe; a sister, Virginia Fulton; a brother, Wayne P. Turner, Sr.; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Harris and Dr. Ralph Jenkins officiating. Interment followed at Sunset Memory Gardens.

The family received friends Saturday evening at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Danny Turner, Chip Turner, Andrew Turner, Adam Turner, Cami Carlisle, Reuben Lowe, Mason Black, Giles Turner, Harris Turner and Jack Chapman Turner.
