Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:

  1. One week after his arrest in Polk County, Florida, Cartersville's Deputy Police Chief Jason DiPrima has resigned. DiPrima faces multiple charges, including soliciting sex from an undercover detective. The Polk County Sheriff said in a statement that DiPrima told the undercover detective he tried to meet another prostitute earlier in the week, but had been scammed. (WSB-TV)
  2. Bartow County Fire & Emergency Services' 22-02 rookie class is in week two of fire school. Working together to better serve our communities, the Cartersville Fire Department and the BCFES department participated in joint ladder truck training drills.   3. Three new large-scale projects to construct new facilities for Cartersville High, Cartersville Primary and Mission Road Elementary are underway. Cartersville primary is set to open for the '23-'24 school year, while the final portion of Cartersville High School's three-story STEM building is projected to be complete in mid-December. Mission Road Elementary's new building is expected to be complete by July 2024. The current schoolhouse is slated to be demolished over summer break of that year. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune)
