Development of Felton Road Site Continues
Commissioner Clarence Brown also approved a number of other contracts at a public meeting Wednesday.

Bartow County Commissioner Clarence Brown at a Wednesday public meeting approved two contracts to continue infrastructure work at the site of the facility that will house fire, and emergency medical and management operations.
An $80,942 agreement with C.H. Kirkpatrick & Sons will allow for miscellaneous roadway development while a $151,992 contract with the same contractor develops the property’s water and sewer capabilities.
Brown said the county has no time line on when infrastructure at the site would be completed to allow construction of the 34,500-square-foot facility.

Recreation Moves to Technology
Also Wednesday, Brown approved a contract with Southern Sports Technologies for third-party software services that will allow online registration for programs. County Administrator Steve Bradley said registrants would pay $2.50 for the convenience, but can still register in person without a fee.

The county will pay the company 2.7 percent of credit card charges, not to exceed $10,000 per year.
Health Department Set for Expansion
The commissioner also approved a measure that will allow the to accept grant money to construct a wing dedicated to the Women, Infants and Children’s program.
Other items approved by Brown were:
• Adopted Goodie Mountain off Bates Road into the county greenspace program;
• Accepted storm water maintenance agreements under county development regulations;
• Entered an agreement with Georgia Department of Transportation to amend the 2009 Capital Improvement Assistance agreement to receive two transit vans, two computers and routing software for the county’s transit system;
• Amended the county’s defined benefit plan for employees;
• Declared certain county property surplus and authorized its sale;
• Entered an agreement with GDOT to improve Five Forks Road;
• Entered an agreement with Georgia Power to relocate power lines on Iron Belt Road to allow for bridge replacement;
• Re-appointed Melissa Heeter, Kelly Campbell, Jack Collins and Andrew Tripp to the Bartow County Animal Control Board;
• Approved an employee assistance program;
• Entered an agreement with Humana to provide Medicare Advantage to retirees;
• Amended two personnel policies and procedures;
• Amended the building code to impose inspections of insulation and adding requirements for retaining walls; and
• Approved a rezoning application for World Central Corporation to expand a car lot on Highway 20.
