Dewey Talmadge Bryson, 97, Former Cartersville City Council Member
Bryson was also ran a grocery store, worked in construction on the Allatoona dam and as a quality control engineer at the Bell Bomber Plant.

Dewey Talmadge Bryson, 97, of Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, Dec.18, 2014.
Bryson was born March 24, 1917, in Bartow County the son of the late, Charles Miller and Bertie Lee (Brookshire) Bryson, was a retired real estate broker, owner of Bryson Real Estate, was a member of the Gideons International and a member of Sam Jones United Methodist Church where he was a life member of the Methodist Men’s Bible Class.

Bryson and his wife, Lola, were married 75 years. They were married on April 10, 1937. Bryson grew up as a farm hand in Cartersville during the depression. He worked at Goodyear Mills and later ran a grocery store in the 1950’s. He worked in construction on the Allatoona dam and later went to work at the Bell Bomber Plant where he was a quality control engineer.
He was the first certified real estate broker in Cartersville and was the third ward City Council member in 1969 and retired from real estate in 1993.

Some of his associations were the Kiwanis Club, past President of the Bartow County Geneology Society and a member of the Cartersville Country Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lola Estelle (Buzzy) Bryson, granddaughter, Mary Katherine Green and son-in-law, John S. Knight.
Surviving are his children, Ann B. Green (Allen), Dewey T. Bryson, Jr. (Kathy) and Faye B. Knight, all of Cartersville, grandchildren, Robert James Knight, Beth Green Ellenberg (Tim), Kristin Bryson Summey (Phil), Kerry Elizabeth Bryson, Dewey T. Bryson, III, great- grandchildren, Colton Gage Knight, Ashley Claypole, Natalie Elisabeth Brookshire, Shelley Elizabeth Dunn, Bryson Phillip Summey and Lola Grace Summey, great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee McElrath, Ethan C. McElrath and Madison Elisabeth McElrath.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Sam Jones United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Lobello and Rev. Nena Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home Saturday afternoon from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pallbearers will be nephews; Otis L. Bryson, Michael Bryson, David Bryson, Kenneth Bryson, Jack Bryson, Bob Bryson, Milton Bryson and Johnny Bryson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sam Jones United Methodist Church or the Bartow County Geneology Society.
