Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:
- The United States Department of Justice is filing a lawsuit against Bartow County over allegations of civil rights violations. The lawsuit alleges the county government subjected two former Bartow County employees "to a hostile work environment" due to racial discrimination. The lawsuit also claims the county government terminated the plaintiffs in alleged "retaliation" for complaints about purported racial harassment. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
- The Cartersville Police Department received numerous reports of vehicle break-ins over the past two weeks. On October 12, a CPD Patrol Officer conducted a traffic stop and after a subsequent search of the vehicle, recovered stolen items from the auto break-ins. Two women were arrested on multiple charges.
