Downtown Art Market Set For Saturday in Cartersville

The event will bring music, food, entertainment and, of course, art in Friendship Plaza.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Cartersville Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Program are rolling out a new event for residents to explore.

The first-ever Downtown Art Market, which evolved out of a partnership with the Booth Photography Guild and the Booth Artists Guild, will be held Saturday, May 21 in downtown Cartersville.

This one of a kind art market will set up shop at Friendship Plaza, and include more than 30 artists from the surrounding counties as well as a musician’s showcase, a performance by the Etowah Jazz Society and beer and wine sales from Maine Street Coastal Cuisine.

The market, which is free, will open at 11 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.

The market will feature entertainment from local musicians such as The Rovers, The Reese Boyd Project and South of Heaven.

This musical showcase will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Comprised of downtown Cartersville business owners, The Rovers are talented young musicians perform who specialize in alternative-progressive rock that is original, fresh, and unique.

The Reese Boyd Project features local 15-year-old guitar prodigy, Reese Boyd of Cass High School. Reese plays your favorite B-side rock classics rarely heard unless on your own turntable.

South of Heaven is made up of musicians, ranging from age 17 to 19, who hail from Taylorsville and Armuchee. They’ve just released their first CD, and have been called “the new wave in Southern Rock,” following successful opening gigs for David Allen Coe and others.

To close out the evening, the Etowah Jazz Society will serenade the crowds until the market closes. The Etowah Jazz Society is a group of dedicated local area musicians who love to perform a wide variety of music, ranging from Big Band-era classics and jazz standards to Broadway and pop favorites.
