Driver, 72, Killed In Cartersville Crash

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A Bartow County resident died early Sunday morning in a single vehicle accident just west of Cartersville.

Bartow County Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash around 5:30 a.m. April 17 on Euharlee Road near Westgate Drive just outside the city limits.
A preliminary investigation indicates 2004 Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on Euharlee Road when the front left side of the vehicle "traveled off of the north shoulder, struck a utility pole and overturned on its passenger side," the Georgia State Patrol said.

The driver, 72-year-old James L. Blankenship of Euharlee, was transported to Cartersville Medical Center where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
