Driver Cited When Tractor Trailer Overturns in Cartersville
The 18-wheeler was attempting to exit off S.R. 3/U.S. 41 onto S.R. 20/U.S. 411 towards Rome when the truck tipped over.

Cartersville, GA -- The driver of an 18-wheeler has been cited for a single-vehicle accident that tied up Tuesday afternoon traffic at a major intersection in Bartow County.

Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol responded to the crash around 1:19 p.m. Jan. 5 along S.R. 20/U.S. 411.
The driver of the tractor trailer, John Eric Bacon of Savannah, told authorities he was attempting to negotiate a curve to exit off S.R. 3/U.S. 41 onto U.S. 411/S.R. 20 westbound when the truck tipped over, “fishtailed” and came to an uncontrolled stop on its right side, said Trooper Joseph Goble.

No injuries were reported in the crash, and no other vehicles were involved.
Goble said Bacon was cited for driving too fast for conditions. The wreck shut down the exit ramp for hours, and troopers were able to clear the crash around 3:48 p.m.
