Duck Dash Trots Into Cartersville on Saturday

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- It's time to lace up those running (or walking) shoes for the 12th annual Duck Dash 5K and Fun Run.

The event, hosted by Advocates For Children, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Cartersville Primary School.

Race-day registration will start at 7 a.m. as well as packet pick-up. Those who pre-register are guaranteed a T-shirt, as well as have the opportunity to receive their packets at Athletes Locker between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30.

The 5K chip timed race will take off at 8 a.m. from the parking lot of the school at 315 Etowah Drive, with the Fun Run starting at about 8:45 a.m.

The 5K course is considered fast and flat, with some rolling hills and the overall elevation is about a 2-percent change. The Fun Run is approximately .7 miles and open to children of all ages, but most fun for children 8 and under.

Runners or walkers may register by visiting the Advocates for Children website.

Fun Run is $15 the day of the race while day-of registration for the 5K is $35. The 12th annual race raises funds to support Cartersville-based Advocates for Children and its programs that are dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect.
