Here are the top three stories today in Cartersville:

1. Rumors of a beer garden coming to Emerson made its way to the Emerson Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. The current alcohol ordinance would not allow for one as the "the last time that the ordinance was updated was in 2010." (wbhfradio.org)
2. A Cartersville Dollar General worker has been arrested for theft. The employee has admitted to loading more than $6,000 of the store's money to his personal debit card. The employee was arrested and taken to the Bartow County jail where he was booked into custody. (WSB Atlanta)
3. A possible "cartel-related" drug deal may have led to the death of a child. A 41-year-old Cartersville woman's bond has been set at $250,000 for her possible role in the death of her own child. She was arrested in November after her son fatally overdosed on fentanyl in her home. (WBHF via Facebook)
