Event Celebrates How Archaeologists Preserve Georgia History
The Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site will commemorate Artifact ID and Celebrate Archaeology Day May 9 in Cartersville.

Residents in Cartersville and Bartow County are invited to learn how archaeologists work to preserve the history of Georgia in its Artifact ID and Celebrate Archaeology Day event.

The event, which commemorates Archaeology Month, will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site in Cartersville.
Visitors can also bring their artifacts to the event, as organizers will have an archaeologist help identify these objects. Park staff will host games and activities throughout the day.

The cost to attend is $2 for children up to 5 years old, $4 for youth 6-17 years old and $6 for adults. The Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site is at 813 Indian Mounds Road SE in Cartersville.
