Firefighters Treated For Burns at Chemical Products Fire

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Five firefighters were treated for minor chemical burns sustained while battling a fire on Wednesday in Cartersville.

The Bartow County Fire Department said on its Facebook page that the heroes suffered "minor chemical burns" in connection to the blaze, which was reported the morning of March 2 at Chemical Products on Old Mill Road in Cartersville.
Bartow County Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Brad Cothran added another firefighter was treated on the scene for fatigue.

Cothran said the agency had to call in another crew to fill an ambulance so there was "no interruption of service to the community.”
As of Wednesday evening, Bartow fire said the five firefighters transported to Cartersville Medical Center have been released, the blaze has been extinguished and the scene has been turned back over to Chemical Products.
"Thanks to everyone for your concern and prayers," the agency said.
