Flower Ceremony Celebrates Bartow Lives Lost To Murder

The 4th annual Flower Ceremony to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims will be held on Sept. 25 in Cartersville.

The fourth annual Flower Ceremony to commemorate the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Clarence Brown Conference Center in Cartersville.

The ceremony will start at 7 p.m., and the event will coincide with others across the country that will celebrate the lives lost to murder.

Candace Jordan, a representative from Parents of Murdered Children will speak at this event. The Jr. ROTC from Gordon Central High School will present colors; Cartersville vocal artist Ashlie Rae will sing and and Steps of Faith dancers will perform an inspirational piece.

A PowerPoint opresentation will include the names of 88 murder victims: 68 from Bartow; 17 from Gordon County and 3 out of state. As each name is read, family members in attendance will be presented with a flower honoring their memory.

The Victim Assistance Unit is a division of the Cherokee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office that helps victims and families deal with the trauma and effects of crime on their lives. Victim advocates guide victims through the court process and assist with providing crisis intervention, referrals, and many other services.
