Here are the top three stories in Cartersville today:

  1. A former Bartow county Sheriff's Office employee has been arrested and charged by the GBI with sexual assault by a person with supervisory/disciplinary authority and violation of oath. The Bartow County Sheriff's Office asked the GBI to investigate allegations of an employee having a sexual relationship with an inmate. (Georgia Bureau of Investigation)
  2. Dr. Gary Voccio of Georgia's Department of Public Health notes that the only thing predictable about the flu season is that it's bound to be unpredictable. Voccio also said that this year's flu season could be on pace to intensify "significantly" this month. (Subscription: The Daily Tribune News)
  3. "Due to a mistake during the ballot creation process, voters in the City of Cartersville will see the county question on their ballots during this general election. The Bartow County Election Supervisor regrets this mistake, the confusion that it may cause, and takes full responsibility for it. Rest assured that no votes cast by those voters who reside outside of the Bartow County School District will be included in the final results of that race, as they do not pay taxes to the Bartow County School System. This will ensure that only citizens directly affected will have a say on this issue," according to a statement. (wbhfradio.org)
