Former Cop Pleads Guilty To Theft Charges
Scott Reneau, a former officer with the Tunnel Hill Police Department, pleaded guilty to six counts of theft by taking charges.

DALTON, GA — A former North Georgia cop has pleaded guilty to several counts of theft and violation of office charges.
Scott Reneau on Thursday pleaded guilty to six counts each of theft by taking and violation of office by a public official charges in front of Whitfield County Superior Court Judge William Boyett, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
The investigation into allegations against Reneau began on March 24, 2016, when the GBI was asked by the Whitfield County District Attorney's Office to investigate a case of missing forfeiture money and weapons from the Tunnel Hill Police Department.

The case led to Reneau, who was arrested and charged with the offenses. Reneau was sentenced to a total of 15 years, five of which he will have to serve in confinement. He was also ordered to pay $37,108 in restitution. The GBI notes he will report to the Georgia Department of Corrections on Oct. 19.
