Former Probation Officer Charged With Sexual Assault

ROME, GA -- The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested and charged a former state probation officer with having sexual contact with the probationers.

Calhoun resident Anyoel Cordovi, 29, was charged by the state agency with two felony counts of sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority and one felony count of violation of oath of office.

The investigation began in August 2016 when the Georgia Department of Corrections reached out to the GBI to conduct the investigation following allegations of sexual contact was made by probationers Cordovi was tasked with supervising.

The alleged acts occurred in 2015, prior to Cordovi’s resignation in July of the same year, the GBI said. Cordovi was arrested without incident in Canton before being transported to the Floyd County Jail.

When the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Floyd County District Attorney's Office for further review.
