On Saturday, Cartersville and Bartow County residents looking to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day won’t have to travel very far to fulfill that passion.

The fun will kick off at 9 a.m. Saturday with the WBHF Radio and Cartersville Optimist Club’s 2015 Metro Kia 4th of July Parade in downtown Cartersville.

Lineup for the parade, which is a fundraiser for local children’s charities, will start at 7:30 a.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church’s parking lot.

The parade will start from the Tabernacle parking lot and go down Douglas Street to Church Street, turn left onto Bartow Street, turn left onto Main Street, turn left onto Stonewall Street and will end at the Tabernacle parking lot.

This year, organizers have introduced a new patriotic costume contest for both children and adults. Children will be placed in a separate category for those 17 years and younger. There will be a first and second place winner for each division of the contest, which is free to enter.

Following the parade, Stars, Stripes & Cartersville will take place at Dellinger Park from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday’s festivities will include a Kids Zone featuring inflatable slides, obstacle courses, bounces and more. There will be a petting zoo, pony rides and camel rides.

If music is your thing, then don’t fret. The Century Bank stage will feature local entertainment throughout the day. Scott Thompson will play an acoustic set from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. At 8 p.m. he will later team up with Peachtree Station for another concert.

Fireworks, which organizers say will be the largest ever hosted at Dellinger Park, will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Dellinger Park is located at 100 Pine Grove Road in Cartersville. For more information, call 770-423-1330.
