Fundraiser Established For Bartow Deputy Who Died On Duty Tuesday

Bartow County Deputy Darren Leigh Parker, 51, died on Tuesday while he was on duty. A fundraiser was created to support his wife and kids.

BARTOW COUNTY, GA — The Bartow community is mourning the loss of a deputy who died Tuesday while he was working.

Deputy Darren Leigh Parker, 51, died while on duty due to medical issues, the Bartow Sheriff's Office said.

A GoFundMe has been established to help Parker's family, including his wife Tracie, children including Alani, Kenneth, Sydney Ryann, Darien, and Bryan, and three grandchildren.

Parker served in the Army and retired from a Virginia fire department before joining the sheriff's office in 2014.

He was studying for his bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
