Gun, Purses Stolen From Cars In Cartersville

No signs of forced entry was observed on the vehicles, according to Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident reports.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — Two residents reported items were taken from their vehicles parked in the driveways of their homes earlier this week in Bartow County.

The first incident was reported around 7:43 a.m. Monday, April 23 at a home on Edgewood Drive in unincorporated Cartersville. According to an incident report released by the Bartow County Sheriff's Office, the woman said someone entered her 2012 Chevrolet Traverse and removed her purse containing her driver's license and Veterans Affairs ID card. Also stolen from the car was a Taurus PT111 Millennium G2 9MM pistol, the report indicates.

The victim believes the items were taken between 4:30 a.m. and around the time the deputy arrived at the scene of the incident. According to the report, the woman said her doors were locked, "so she is unaware how they entered the vehicle." The deputy looked at the vehicle and did not see any signs of forced entry, however,

On Wednesday, April 25, another sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a home around 11:06 a.m. on Bishop Road in unincorporated. The resident said her Coach purse was taken from 2002 Kia was parked in the driveway. She said she believed the theft took place between 6 p.m. April 24 and 6 a.m. April 25, the incident report adds.

Her purse contained her driver's license, Social Security card, as well as credit and debit cards. The woman told the deputy she saw the purse the previous night after returning home and noticed it missing when she was taking her daughter to school.

She also said she did not know if the doors to her vehicle were locked, but no signs of forced entry was observed by the responding deputy, the report adds. However, while looking through her vehicle, the woman came across the driver's license of a person she did not know. An attempt was made to contact the person on the license, but the deputy was unable to reach the subject. The ID card was turned in as evidence.
