Born in Atlanta, Mitchell moved with his family to Bartow and he graduated from Cass High School.
He followed his family's talents both in trucking and cooking, started a catering company and eventually leaving his management position to cook full time. His ability to create delicious cuisine keeps him in high demand for an international clientele, but he is most renowned for his smoked meats.
From humble beginnings at the Cartersville Farmer's Market to assisting with the first BBQ competitions in Bartow County, he later entered the world of professional barbecue competitions.
After 10 years successfully competing in Kansas City Barbecue Society events, Mitchell finally decided to retire and focus more on his popular restaurant.
The lecture is free to members and included with the price of admission for not-yet members. For more information on this and other museum programs, visit www.bartowhistorymuseum.org.
