CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Bartow County homeowner fed up with his residence being burglarized decided to take action, a move that led to the capture of four juveniles accused of breaking into the house over the weekend.

A deputy with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office was dispatched around 12:59 a.m. Saturday, April 14 to a home in the 600 block of Sandtown Road SE in unincorporated Cartersville. The deputy met with the homeowner and two witnesses, who said they caught two juveniles "breaking into a residence," according to an incident report released by the sheriff's office.

The homeowner said two more minors were with the pair who were at the scene, but they ran away upon being noticed. Both juveniles were reached by phone and they returned to the house for questioning.

"He said that when they approached the residence, he saw four juveniles exiting the residence and began to run," the report adds. The homeowner was able to get two of the juveniles to stop while the others continued to flee.

Broken glass on the front door was observed at the scene. One juvenile admitted going into the residence with his three counterparts to "hang out," the report states. The parents of the four minors, whose names were not released due to their age, were notified of the incident and they arrived on the scene.

According to the report, the homeowner agreed not to pursue criminal charges if the parents agreed to help pay for damages made to the house. The parents agreed to the terms, and provided their contact information to the homeowner for him to follow-up with this project. The four juveniles were released to their parents, the report adds.
