Kingston Mayor Ronald Casey Passes Away

Casey, 69, retired from Cass High school where he was a teacher, football and wrestling coach.

Ronald Coleman Casey, 69, of W. Howard St., Kingston, Georgia, passed away Monday, June 13, 2016 at a Rome, Ga. hospital.

Mr. Casey was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Cartersville, Georgia, son of the late A.C. Casey and Francis & Grace Moss Abercrombie. He graduated from Cass High School and went on to attend Shorter College in Rome. Coach Casey retired from Cass High School where he was a teacher, football and wrestling coach. 

He is the current mayor of Kingston and a local historian. He is a member of the Kingston Masonic Lodge and is a Shriner. He is a member of the Kingston Baptist Church where he serves as chairman of the Deacons.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Hood Casey of Kingston; a daughter, Tara Padgett and husband Reggie; a daughter, Nicole Shelton and husband Jeremy; 3 grandchildren, Garrett Shelton, Tyler Shelton, Anna Padgett.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 16th at 11 a.m. at Kingston Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Garland and Rev. Bill Cline officiating. 

The body will lie in state from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church. The family receive friends Wednesday evening at Owen Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will include Lamar Baker, Tommy Strickland, Tommy Jones, Mic Pyle, Robert Gentry,and Danny Deems. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Kingston Baptist Church.
