Local high school wrestling teams advance
Both Woodland High School and Cass High School have advanced to the quarterfinals of the GHSA Class 5A state duals tournament.
Both Woodland High School and Cass High School won opening round matches in the GHSA Class AAAAA wrestling state duals tournament Thursday afternoon at the Macon Centreplex.
Woodland took care of Gainesville 63-6. The top-seeded Wildcats advance to take on LaGrange in the state quarterfinals. LaGrange was a 43-30 winner over Ware County in the opening round.
Cass topped Jones County 40-37 for the right to wrestle No. 2 seed Camden County in the next round. Camden was an 82-0 victor over Southwest DeKalb on Thursday.

The quarterfinal round is scheduled for 11:30am Friday. Winners will advance to the state semi-finals Friday night at 7pm. The state championship match is set for Saturday afternoon.
Other first round winners Thursday in Class AAAAA were Ola, Alexander, Allatoona, and Clarke Central.
