Low-Income Heating Assistance Program Accepting Appointments

Appointments for homebound and/or seniors age 65 and older are underway, and will begin Dec. 1 for the general public.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- Tallatoona Community Action Partnership is now accepting appointments for its Low Income Home Emergency Assistance Program for seniors age 65 and older or homebound residents.

Appointments for the general public will begin on Dec. 1 for the program, and they will be provided on a first-come, first serve basis until the funds are exhausted.

Bartow County residents who qualify for assistance will receive either $310 or $350 that can be applied toward their heating bill (heating source).

If you are granted an appointment, you are required to bring the following documents with you:

  • Driver’s license or state issued photo ID
  • Original social security cards for everyone living in the home
  • Proof of citizenship or immigration status (driver’s license, US military ID, US passport or card, state issued photo ID, US permanent resident card, alien registration card, employment authorization document, certificate of citizenship are all acceptable documents as proof of citizenship)
  • Most current heating bill (bill must be dated within 30 days)
  • If your home is heated with natural gas, kerosene, propane, or wood you must bring both your heating bill and electric bill to the appointment. Proof of income for the last 30 days for everyone 18 years or older living in the home; income includes but is not limited to, alimony, child support, disability, pension, rental income, retirement, social security, unemployment, wages from work, wages from self employment, and worker’s compensation. If there is someone 18 or older living in the home who has zero income, they MUST come to the appointment.

You should also note that an appointment does not guarantee approval for assistance.
