The Georgia Department of Natural Resource's Law Enforcement division is investigating a drowning that happened Sunday afternoon at Allatoona Lake. DNR officers received a call around 4:03 p.m. of the incident, which occurred in the Allatoona Landing area of the lake. DNR units, along with Bartow County Fire, Rescue and EMS officials, arrived onto the scene by 4:13 p.m., said spokesperson Mark McKinnon. The victim, a 26-year-old man, reportedly drowned "as he was swimming from shore chasing a float," McKinnon added. His body was recovered around 4:34 p.m. by DNR officers who used body dragging equipment. Stay with Patch for updates.
