Man, 26, Drowns in Allatoona Lake
The victim drowned Sunday afternoon while swimming from the shore, officials with the Georgia Department of Natural resource said.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resource’s Law Enforcement division is investigating a drowning that happened Sunday afternoon at Allatoona Lake.
DNR officers received a call around 4:03 p.m. of the incident, which occurred in the Allatoona Landing area of the lake. DNR units, along with Bartow County Fire, Rescue and EMS officials, arrived onto the scene by 4:13 p.m., said spokesperson Mark McKinnon.
The victim, a 26-year-old man, reportedly drowned ”as he was swimming from shore chasing a float,” McKinnon added. His body was recovered around 4:34 p.m. by DNR officers who used body dragging equipment.
