Man Arrested For Death Of 11-Week-Old Baby

The coroner said the baby's death was a result of a traumatic brain injury, and ruled it a homicide.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of an infant in 2017, according to a press release from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office. Jerry Wayne Bagley, Jr., 21 is the suspect in custody.

Sheriff Clark Millsap said deputies and investigators responded to a residence on Cedar Creek Road in April 2017, "to investigate an infant suffering from a reported cardiac arrest," the press release said. The baby, 11 weeks old, was taken to Children's Hospital of Atlanta.

Sadly, the infant died four days later. An autopsy by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner's Office determined that the baby died from craniocerebral trauma, or a traumatic brain injury. The coroner said the baby's death was a homicide.
