Man Assaults, Robs Ex-Girlfriend In Front of Their Child: Police

Adairsville, GA -- The Adairsville Police Department is looking for a 23-year-old suspect accused of assaulting and robbing his ex-girlfriend in front of their child.

Officers with the agency responded to a strong armed robbery call around 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 near Food Lion at 7409 Adairsville Highway.

The store is located along S.R. 140 between U.S. 41/S.R. 3 and Interstate 75.

Officers arrived on the scene and were informed that Cody McCain arranged to “meet an ex-girlfriend to return money to her,” Adairsville police said in a press release.

When the woman arrived, the suspect allegedly hit her in the face, causing a visible injury, “in front of their child.”

McCain then took $2,000 from the woman’s wallet and fled the location on foot, Adairsville police said.

Warrants have been issued for McCain’s arrest on robbery, battery, cruelty to children in the third degree and financial transaction card theft charges.
