Man Charged With Shooting Woman In Bartow County

BREAKING: The Bartow County Sheriff's Office said the woman was found shot "multiple times" Sunday along Highway 20 SPUR near Sakkau Drive.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — An Acworth man has been charged in connection to the shooting of a woman who was found injured along a highway Sunday afternoon in Bartow County.

Bartow County 911 dispatchers received a call of the shooting in the area of Highway 20 SPUR and Sakkau Drive around 3:20 p.m. July 22. The caller informed dispatchers that the woman, identified as 53-year-old Natalie Davis, had been shot "multiple times," the Bartow County Sheriff's Office said.

Davis, who was found by sheriff's deputies along Highway 20 SPUR, was transported by air to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for treatment, and she's expected to recover from her injuries, Bartow sheriff's office spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Rogers.

Deputies and investigators learned that David Ferrell Brooks, 52, of Acworth, was the shooter, and they issued warrants for his arrest. Brooks was taken into custody just after 6 p.m. Sunday by Paulding County sheriff's deputies.

Sgt. Rogers told Patch BCSO detectives are trying to determine the nature of the relationship between Brooks and Davis.

Brooks is charged with aggravated assault with a gun, and he's been transported to the Bartow County Jail. Sgt. Rogers said the case remains active and more charges are possible.
