Man Dies In Cartersville House Fire

The fire on Oakland Street was reported before 7 a.m. Wednesday morning.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- A man died early Wednesday morning in a house fire reported in Cartersville. Firefighters received the call of the fire at the single-story residence on Oakland Street around 6:47 a.m. Nov. 8.

They arrived to find the fire raging, but crews were able to put out the blaze. The home suffered moderate damage, said Cartersville Deputy Fire Chief Ray King.

However, an adult male inside the home perished in the fire, King added. The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.

Bartow County Coroner Joel Guyton said the male's name and age will be released once he is "properly" identified.
